Why Normal and perpendicular are two different things?

Why Normal and perpendicular are two different things?

This is very common practice in mathematics to use normal and perpendicular but when it comes to answer the question i.e what's the difference between normal and perpendicular than its quite difficult for the student to answer this question.

ANSWER:

The answer of this question is quite simple as normal is always used in 3D and perpendicular is always used in 2D.

"Normal" is a mathematical term for this, which most people would not understand.

"Perpendicular" is used in lower-level math, but also widely in common usage.

In maths "normal" is often a noun, "the normal" precisely describing a vector which is at right angles to a curve, plane, or surface at a particular point.
